last thursday a thai magazine called me up for an interview. this is how it went.
c: "hi, i know a friend of a friend of your friend. can we interview you tomorrow?"
me: "umh no"
i felt bad saying no, i suggested monday.
c: "ok. where should we do this?"
me: "tonglor perhaps? a coffee shop there."
c: "oh no that's far. will the BTS be opened?"
how would I know?
me: "how many pages and what's the article?"
c: "young celeb shopping lifestyle. oh there will be a full page photo and full page interview"
me: "ok. so two A4 (A-สี่) right?"
c: "no. two A-Four"
me: "..."
monday 9AM, stuck in traffic
me: "hi, this is me. i dont think i can give the interview today because it's back to normal and there's some urgent work i have to finish."
c: "dai ka. can we do it tomorrow instead?"
me: "there's a big chance that i'll probably be out of bangkok tomorrow. look, why don't you send me a list of questions and I'll answer by e-mail. I have some photos that you can use too."
c: "no ka that's not possible. the article is kind of serious?"
me: "answering questions in letters via e-mail is also serious na ka."
c: "no, but the photographer need to set up and shoot and so on."
me: "oh i think i have some photos already. i can have my accessories photos taken tonight too if you want. what's the preferred resolution for printing?"
c: "no but the type of photos that you send by e-mail is bad. we don't use photos by e-mail stuff."
me: "..."
so naturally, i explained to her that there are a certain sites that you can actually upload large files, even those larger than 20MB. for an A4 print that would be more than enough. what did she planned to use my photo for anyway? highway billboard advertisement? after half a minute i realized that it was waste of time explaining as she was sounding more pissed by seconds.
so i said "ok, sorry for the inconveniences. i think you should look for someone else to interview."
c: "ok let me confirm you again after i talk to my boss."
i didn't realize i needed her boss' confirmation for my refusal. wow... that's new.
it was such a relieve to say no to this.
